Background
After
qualifying as a Barrister in 1994, Oliver
spent two years at City of London firm Holmes
Hardingham. He then joined Curtis
Davis Garrard in 1997 specialising in commercial
litigation and arbitration.
Oliver
formally qualified as a solicitor in 1998 having sat
the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test, and joined the
firm in January 2003.
Experience
and expertise
Oliver has advised upon a range of contractual issues and handled disputes across a broad range of industries, including matters arising out of or related to accounting, banking, commodities, construction, energy, engineering, healthcare, insolvency, insurance, IT, letters of credit, logistics, naval architecture, oil and gas, power, product liability, sale and purchase, shipping and transport.
He has conducted cases before all divisions of the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and represented clients involved in arbitrations under the rules of the LMAA and EAA.
His particular expertise is complex litigation and arbitration often involving the need for expert evidence. He has worked with experts in a range of disciplines including accountancy, engineering, foreign law, hardware and software, IT systems, logistics, maintenance, naval architecture and regulation.
